discrete. discreet.

SUBSTRATE

08   discrete. discreet.

09   i have a secret.

10   a secret in common with many or most other people, to some degree.

11   a secret, speaking for myself, often unspoken though shared frequently.

12   it might begin where we begin,

13   like mine - when at the beginning something happened within my family.

14   it can follow behind throughout our journey,

15   on occasion affecting our minds directing our bodies –

16   complicated spacetime relationships ruptured in secrecy –

17   discontinuous, made discrete – discreetly.

SURFACE

01   left with fragments embedded in flesh memory,

02   one may reflexively – like a mollusk – secrete protective substances,

03   resurfacing irritants with layers of aesthetic beauty – hard pearls trapped inside a soft body.

04   realistically, less prized accretions occur –

05   kidney stones, broken homes, and a continuous sense of discontinuity.

06   we grip difficult shapes – slippery, contradictory, confusing –

07   grappling in secrecy those jagged edges that might define our identities.

SUPPORT

18   we embody the tension –

19   a familiar tune,

20   an awkward posture legitimized through repetition.

21   we calcify.

22   we ossify, but not really.

23   we mostly reify,

24   secretly.

25   we consecrate and make concrete what often retains some profane pliability –

26   some neuroplasticity with the opportunity

27   to reconfigure and accept those pieces for what they were – moments in passing.

28   this release might require an exposure or mapping –

29   visualizations at a distance,

30   to be seen and to see our differences overlapping.

31   perhaps not so discreet.

32   perhaps not so discrete.

33   maybe not such a secret.

34   maybe it’s not just me.
